Ben and I were staff members of the AMRL(American Model Railroaders of Luxembourg) until the association was dissolved in 2003. We did not abandon our hobby, but formed our own 2 man association to continue our web site and the ongoing construction of our new layout.
Pictures of our switching layout can be seen here.
Some information about our financial situation. We opened a savings account and contribute a small amount each month to handle any costs incurred. Any money awarded by the shows we attend will also be deposited.
The Waukegan and Kenosha Terminal switching layout was born after Ben and I had much discussion and bounced our ideas off each other on how to construct a small, portable layout we could easily transport to different train shows. We decided on an industrial switching layout that consists of one 3-way turnout, one 4-way turnout, and one Y- turnout. To be able to bring it to future shows, we have set a 2 - 3 year construction deadline. This takes into account our limited time we have to work. We should be able to work together each Wednesday besides working alone on it on other days.
Please look at the construction pictures here.
Ben and I acknowledge the substantial assistance given us by Richard Schneider, Ben's son.
