Tarpaulin covered load
Here I try to explain my work
How to make a tarpaulin covered load
Material:
A mixture of:
1 part white glue (wood glue)
2 parts water
1-2 drops of detergent
Flat toilet paper or paper handkerchiefs without imprints
Waste pieces of styrene or plastic sheet
Scrap pieces which are the right size for your scale (old fuses, gears, wooden dowels, balls etc)
Superglue
A glass or plastic plate which the white glue will not stick to when dry
Use the piece of styrene or plastic sheet as a base for sticking the scrap pieces together with
superglue. It is easier to glue everything to the styrene or plastic sheet and then to transfer the
model to its final place when completed. Completely cover the scrap pieces with the toilet
paper or paper handkerchief. Drench with the white glue mixture and the covered shapes will
show through. Leave for 24 hours for the glue mixture to harden. When dry, paint with acrylic
paint. The glue mixture may soften and if this happens then the model can be reshaped if
needed. Allow a minimum of 24 hours for the paint to harden. If aging is required, do so now
with weathering powders. Cut the tissue to shape to fit the layout. Chains may be used for
models set in earlier periods and adhesive tape can be used for straps for later periods. This
process may be used for all scale models. Have fun creating your own covered load
